With great power comes great movies

Recent movies have been about super heroes or people with otherworldly powers that save the day (or occasionally ruin it). Maybe it is because people are bored by being normal and love the thrill of watching someone in tights breaking through buildings and flying away unharmed. That is what everyone wants to be, for just one day: better than everybody else. Being looked up to wouldn’t hurt, either.

This superhero movie is a little bit different. In the movie Chronicle, four seemingly normal teenagers have unnatural abilities in their hands that allow them to have above average strength. Soon after the discovery of their abilities, they start to have more fun and enjoy the privilege given to them. This leads to the disaster, where they realize that they have responsibility to serve and respect instead of to disrespect and relax. They have to set up a set of rules that they can’t break, or they will punish themselves. One becomes more powerful than the rest and is able to break their own laws without their punishment, and the others have to find a way to stop him.

The acting was above average, but there has been much better acting in other movies. Had it been better, the movie could have been almost 5 full stars. The filming was great: all of the camera angles were great and the lighting was perfect for every scene.

This has the makings to be one of the better movies of the year. This is, however, stealing from every other movie about super heroes. The movie is definitely worth the watch and is worthy of 4 out of 5 stars, due to the storyline and the special affects.
