Burning building saviours

Larry Dobbs, a man of 64 was busy cooking in his house on Keswick Dam Road Tuesday night when a fire began in the house. A neighbour had seen flames appear in the back of the house and immediately alerted Larry’s caretakers.

Dobbs is in a wheelchair and cannot escape the flames himself so Mark and Lisa Freitas rushed into the house escorted Larry out and proceeded to douse the flames with water. The speculations of Mark and Lisa was that the fire began in the bathroom most likely due to faulty wiring.

In reaction to hearing this story Josh beans (11) exclaimed that “it was brave to rush into the house” and “they were very loyal to the man”. Alyssa Stauffer (10) adds in that “Larry has great friends in his caretakers” which can be speculated from their brave performance.

Dobbs was in great luck that his neighbors are very attentive and his friends were ready to help him right away. The fire was not catastrophic enough to burn the entire house but did some great damage to half of the house especially the bathroom where it began.

Chandler Brittain (9) expressed his opinion that “due to the valiant effort of his friends he was able to escape from the fire alive”. Without their great courage and loyalty Larry may not have made it out of the fire alive and his saviours should be given a place of honor for their noble act.

It is a very welcoming sight to know that people are there for each other in situations that call for help. A great noble act performed that will let Mr. Dobbs live for many more years.
